I saw this band when I came across Boys and Frogs. They are simply called Boys and the song is called Lion Den Boy.

Lion Den Boy comes out full fledged like they are ready to just kick some ass. Hard hitting and energetic rock with melodic 80's thrashing female vocals. "Cat got your tongue," lyrics from the chorus mimic the title Lion Den Boy. Is he this boy that really thought he was a man? The band gets you ramped up to hear the outcome of this poor dope.

A New Indie Song Everyday (Boys and Frogs) 4-10-11

With the knowledge that they recently celebrated their 1 year anniversary, I was astonished. They have accomplished much it seems. They have a large fan base and a coherent sound. And yes, normally bands that have not been together for very long do not have a coherent sound.
I enjoyed finding them today as they have a richness to their style that many bands are lacking. On Paint is actually kind of difficult to understand since the vocals are down too low for my ears. Can't wait until they get a mastered version of the songs. The instruments in this song are so lively that they drown out the vocals, but I am not offended. As I stated I like the style, it just needs a touch of finesse.

A New Indie Song Everyday (Justin Kipler)04-09-11
After a truthful artist, I thought it would be fun to take it into a little theatrical post and put a spin on the bad man. The Justin Kipker Show with The Bad Man is my choice.

The Bad Man is funny to think of after yesterdays truthful song. In this song, however I do not believe it is about a bad man responsible for the damage to our world. I did think it was a light playful song since I have seen his stage performance images. My theory gets thrown for a loop twice at the end with lyrics like, "The bad man is everywhere and I am coming for you". The Justin Kipker Show represents some from the glam rock era and embraces a dark vampire style of rock. The Gothic themes are really pronounced with dark imagery in first person perspective at the end. The listener realizes the shocker is the lyrics are really about him, he is the bad man coming to get you. Fun, nice, twist on what would otherwise by a straightforward song.

I came across this young lady while looking on a music blog today. She was advertising ensuring I would not be disappointed if I gave her a listen. She was right, I was enthralled. Amanda Bloom is the name the song It Must Be the Living.

A New Indie Song Everyday (The B-zoots)04-06-11
The B-zoots are my pick tonight with the song Get Out.

Get Out starts with a distinct throwback to Twister in the Sun. It moseys its way into a heavy punk riff. Then Get Out decides to stroll down some Progressive Rock trail and land heavily back into the punk theme. Finally, it ends abruptly leaving us with a fully satisfied ride.

A New Indie Song Everyday (Chet O'Keefe)04-05-11
Had the privilege of making it out to open mic tonight. While listening to the many hopeful and talented singer/musicians I was taken by one in particular, Chet O'Keefe and the song Game Bird.

Immediately, upon listening I felt this song was going to be a topical surface song only. Game bird starts with the visionary story of shooting an animal. After listening for a short while, I realized I was mistaken and all of the great depth that awaited to be heard.
The vivid description of a lost family almost brought tears to my eyes. With lyrics, "use to be I never slept alone and had me a wife and a happy home and a daughter she should have been grown", the symbolism kicks in of the little gunned down game bird. The innocent black eyed bird starring back lifeless now. Is the singer this lack luster bird now or is this meant to represent the lives that have been taken away from him? Through all of his pain, Chet O'Keefe, appears to find some sense of solace in a "quiet place to sing."
He had a happy home, according to the lyrics but it is all gone in the wind; appearing painful to remember and painful to forget. Chet O'Keefe, in Game Bird, takes us in a sneak peak look at his musical creative world constructed by pain. He wraps up the story with a circle back to the opening reminding us that he did shoot a little game bird with familiar black eyes.

The song starts off just really taking off with the banjo in full swing. Really speaks about the tough times we have been hit with by the political figures. A World I Don't Want to See is inevitably bound to exist but the lyrics point to trying to push it out and focus on something other than the pain of the unfairness in the World.

A New Indie Song Everyday (Cold Room Theory)04-03-11
I have yet to write anything bad about a band. This will be my first constructive criticism. Cold Room Theory with Only Words as the song.

Alright so I am going to try not to rag on this guy too hard. He confesses in his profile that he actually dropped out of college to pursue his dream as a musician. Reasons to be a musician he says includes, "be fun to go on tour with other bands, sell merchandice, and just play my music for people who will listen." Yes he did spell merchandise wrong. If we get over the fact that he obviously could have used a little bit more college in English, it still leaves us with fun to tour with other bands and of course play music for people who will listen. Let us examine the fun of touring.
When one tours they must provide money for the tour, food while out on tour, and lets not forget the stamina. Everyone who is alive thinks touring sounds great at first glance. This guy should really understand that it is not all rainbows and butterflies. People have to know of you and your music and you have to have a business sense to even book paying gigs. Saying you get the paying gigs then you must divide it amongst the band and all of the expenses needed to get to your next gig. Finally, since the gig surely is not paying that much as a beginner, you must find reasonable means to shower, shave, and sleep. If you are rich then, hey I am sure someone will pay for it for you. However, if you are not in that percentile then you must figure these choices out.
Moving on to the actual song. Well I think you really blew your tour here. Of all of the horrible singers I have heard and talentless bands, this really takes the caliber to another level. Wow! Only Words is absolutely devoid of rhythm. The first little plastic beats are ok until you realize the rhythm stays flat when the singing comes through. The singing on this song is not horrific but maybe I can't get past the fact that the music does not even match at all.
My advice to pick up an acoustic guitar you say you can play and start over. Scratch it as I should have stayed in college another semester and actually took a music class.

A New Indie Song Everyday (The Lindales)04-02-11
Another band from the festival The Lindales; the song Whatever Helps You Sleep At Night. I really enjoyed this song and regret I did not get a chance to see them live. They came on early Friday. Nice quality about this song and I am going to cop out and review it a little longer tomorrow and hopefully update.

A New Indie Song Everyday (The Very Verys)04-01-11
Well this might go down as the worst week ever! Sorry, I missed yet another day in my blogging, however it doesn't look like I will get around to promoting until 2013 anyway. With all the late hours at work and family drama I have failed to be available to blog. I am writing in Fridays today. The Very Verys with Bright City Lights is my pick for Friday. I am working backwards since I saw them at the Deep Ellum Arts Festival.
